Ice Planet Crate MOC – Free Building Instructions
Share
Vehicles and research stations may get most of the attention in a frozen-space display, but a remote outpost also needs somewhere to keep its equipment. The Ice Planet Crate is my original custom MOC built around that smaller logistics role, combining a rugged dark cargo container with warning markings, nearby blue crystal formations and separate field equipment.
Free step-by-step image instructions are available on this page. The finished build is especially suited to a supply point beside an exploration vehicle, a research area or a larger frozen planetary base.
A Supply Crate Built for the Edge of the Base
The main container has a low, heavy profile that makes it look more like working outpost equipment than a decorative storage box. Dark sloped walls form the body, while the orange side opening and orange top panel introduce the bright accent associated with the surrounding frozen-space setting.
Across the front, the yellow-and-dark warning panel immediately gives the crate an industrial character. Small front openings and the central emblem add further detail without making the container visually busy.

Crystal Terrain Turns Cargo into a Small Scene
The crate is only one part of the composition. Behind it, several transparent blue crystal clusters rise from pale rocky terrain, creating a direct connection between the equipment and the frozen environment around it.
A separate cylindrical canister with dark and orange bands stands beside the crate, complete with a black hose-like attachment. Together, these elements make the MOC feel like a temporary working point where equipment has been placed close to a crystal-rich section of the landscape.
Building the Crate, Canister and Crystal Formation
The image instructions take the model from its separate assemblies to the complete arrangement shown here. Following the sequence lets you recreate the cargo container, its contrasting panels and warning details, the freestanding cylindrical equipment and the rocky crystal section.
The free image instructions are available here on the page. Supporters can also access a downloadable PDF version.
Create a Frozen Expedition Supply Zone
This MOC can fill the space between larger builds rather than competing with them for attention. Place it alongside the Ice Planet Research Station MOC to give the outpost a dedicated equipment area, or park the Ice Planet Snowmobile MOC nearby as if it has stopped to collect supplies before heading across the ice.
The Ice Planet Scout Rover MOC can turn the same area into a small expedition staging point. For a more developed installation, the Space Ice Radar Base MOC adds larger communication infrastructure around the scene.
More Cargo for a Space Layout
If the storage side of the build is what interests you most, the Space Cargo MOC instructions offer another compact way to add supplies and technical equipment to a futuristic base. Combining several small cargo builds can help create loading areas, service corners and equipment clusters without requiring another large structure.
