Ice Planet Research Station MOC – Free Building Instructions
Share
The Ice Planet Research Station is my original custom MOC, designed as a compact science outpost for a frozen world. Free step-by-step image instructions are available on this page, showing how to recreate the complete station and its visible equipment.
The model combines a seated researcher, a sloped control console, a large angled communication dish, a transparent cylindrical module, and several small signal details on a blue and white platform.
It works especially well as a focal point inside an ice planet base, frozen moon layout, sci-fi laboratory, or compact shelf display. It can also serve as the central command area for nearby exploration vehicles and technical equipment.
Quick MOC Summary
- MOC type: Compact ice planet research station
- Best for: Frozen space bases, sci-fi laboratories, icy moon scenes, and shelf displays
- Main features: Control console, seated researcher, angled dish, transparent cylindrical module, signal lights, and raised platform details
- Instructions: Free step-by-step image instructions are available on this page
About This Custom MOC
This custom MOC presents a small but active research station built around a central operator position. A seated crew member faces a sloped console with printed control details, making the station feel like a working observation or communication point rather than an empty structure.
Behind the workstation, the large translucent orange dish creates the strongest part of the silhouette. Its angled support gives the model height and makes the station easy to recognize inside a larger display. Beside it, the transparent cylindrical module adds a laboratory-style detail that could represent research equipment, storage, scanning technology, or a protected sample area.
The blue and white platform helps establish the frozen-world theme. Sloped side sections, a curved front edge, raised equipment areas, small orange warning elements, and dark rail-like details make the base feel complete without requiring a large footprint.
What You Can Build from the Instructions
The free image instructions guide you through the complete Ice Planet Research Station MOC as displayed. You can recreate the curved base, raised blue sections, operator position, control console, communication dish assembly, transparent cylindrical module, and smaller equipment details.
Following the build visually also makes it easier to see how the separate station elements connect into one compact scene. The finished model can be displayed immediately or used as the starting point for a larger frozen research facility.

Where This MOC Fits Best
This research station fits naturally into an ice planet MOC, frozen moon base, arctic science scene, futuristic laboratory, or remote exploration outpost. It can sit beside a landing area, vehicle route, cargo zone, power station, or defensive checkpoint.
Because the build includes both a character and a complete working area, it can also function as a standalone display MOC. The dish, console, transparent module, and curved platform provide enough visual context to tell a small science-fiction story without a larger background.
Why Build This MOC?
The main value of this MOC is the amount of atmosphere it creates in a compact space. The researcher at the controls makes the station feel occupied, while the dish and technical equipment suggest communication, observation, scanning, or scientific work.
It is also a useful connecting model for a larger layout. Vehicles gain a destination, cargo gains a purpose, and surrounding equipment begins to feel like part of an organized expedition rather than a collection of separate builds.
Building Experience
This build focuses on combining a small scene with several recognizable technical details. The angled dish, sloped console, raised platforms, curved base, and transparent elements provide variety while keeping the finished station compact.
The image-based instructions let you follow each section in visual order. Careful attention to the dish support and small equipment details will help the completed model match the displayed design.

FAQ
What is the Ice Planet Research Station MOC?
It is an original custom MOC of a compact frozen-world research outpost. The model includes a seated researcher, control console, large angled dish, transparent cylindrical module, signal details, and a blue and white platform.
Are the building instructions free?
Yes. Free step-by-step image instructions are available on this page. The free image instructions can be followed directly here to recreate the model. A supporter PDF version may also be available separately.
Where does this MOC fit best?
It fits best in ice planet layouts, frozen space bases, sci-fi laboratories, arctic exploration scenes, icy moon displays, and compact futuristic shelf setups.
Is this MOC better as a standalone build or part of a larger display?
It works in both formats. The station includes enough equipment and character detail to stand alone, but it becomes especially useful as the central research or communication point in a larger frozen space layout.
