LEGO 42718 Friendship Party Bus - Double-Decker Party Features
A road vehicle becomes a two-level venue in LEGO Friends 42718 Friendship Party Bus. Scheduled for January 1st, 2027, the 676-piece build opens to reveal a lower lounge, then carries the celebration upward with a private pool and rooftop slide. Karaoke, cupcakes and a Daisy mini-doll establish the party theme, while pull-out beds, a fireplace, marshmallows and string lights let the same bus shift into an overnight stop. For vehicle builders, the interesting part is that transformation: the model needs a convincing travelling profile when closed and enough accessible floor space to feel like a destination when opened.

A Vehicle That Becomes the Venue
Most buses support a story by taking characters somewhere else. This one is the somewhere else. Opening the pink body exposes the lounge, while the roof carries water play and a slide rather than ordinary luggage. The design turns arrival into an event: park the bus, unfold the interior and begin the celebration without adding a separate building.
The double-decker format separates activities cleanly. Karaoke and cupcakes belong in the sheltered lower level; the pool and slide create a brighter rooftop zone. That division should keep the play spaces readable even when several characters are positioned around the model, and it gives the tall vehicle a purpose beyond its silhouette.
From Karaoke Lounge to Camp-Out
The lower lounge centres the social side of the build. A microphone creates an obvious performance point, cupcakes provide a party table detail and the opening body gives hands access to the interior. Churro taking the wheel adds a playful option at the front, but the driver area still anchors the build as a road-going bus rather than a static clubhouse.
The overnight configuration changes the mood. Pull-out rooftop beds extend the usable space, while a fireplace, marshmallows and a string of lights create a campsite atmosphere around the parked vehicle. This is more than an extra prop cluster: it lets the bus tell a daytime pool story and a quieter evening story using different parts of the same structure.
Builder's Perspective: Balancing Wheels and Rooms
A tall bus needs visual weight near the wheels so the upper deck does not appear disconnected from the chassis. Long horizontal colour bands can stretch the vehicle, while windows and the opening seam need to align well enough that the closed side still feels deliberate. The roof features then provide a contrasting playful outline above that disciplined body shape.
Interior depth is the second challenge. Furniture must fit inside the shell when it closes, yet remain easy to reach when it opens. Builders adapting the design can test folding tables, clip-mounted speakers or seats that rotate towards the performance area. Those mechanisms add function without taking over the narrow aisle.
The camping mode also suggests useful vehicle-MOC techniques. Pull-out sleeping platforms, an awning over the doorway and storage beneath the rear deck could turn the party bus into a touring music coach. A separately built pool deck would make it possible to switch between a festival version and a travel version while preserving the core vehicle.
Display and MOC Ideas for a Mobile Celebration
Set the bus in a road scene beside a brick-built festival gate, using a short queue line, ticket booth and speaker tower to explain why it has stopped. A dance floor with translucent tiles can sit level with the open lounge, while a compact DJ booth gives the microphone area a second performance setup. For a rooftop scene, add safety rails, a folded towel rack and a tiny poolside drink table without blocking the slide.
An evening display could place the bus beside a circular firepit made from dark grey slopes, with log seats and warm lights strung between two poles. A campsite parking bay, charging point and map board would frame the pull-out beds as part of a planned tour stop. On a narrow shelf, angle the vehicle slightly and open only the lounge side, then position a neon-style name sign behind the roofline so the wheels, interior and slide are all visible from the front.
Final Thoughts: Built for the Stop, Not Just the Journey
Friendship Party Bus suits builders who want a vehicle with interior transformation and several distinct social scenes. Its strongest feature is the contrast between a tidy travelling form and an opened party layout that continues onto the roof and into the evening. That gives it unusual flexibility for a Friends vehicle: it can lead a road trip, headline a festival display or serve as a compact campsite without needing a separate venue.
