LEGO Street Fighter's Movie Tie-In Creates a Strange Fortnite Split

Street Fighter has entered another crossover moment, but its LEGO connection comes with an unusual dividing line. In his commentary, just2good focuses on the official tie-in built around the 2026 live-action Street Fighter movie rather than the long-running game versions of the characters.
That distinction matters in Fortnite, where different versions of Ryu and Chun-Li can be treated as separate outfits. The movie collaboration gives the franchise a fresh route into the current LEGO Fortnite ecosystem, while the familiar game-inspired designs remain a different licensing and compatibility question.

Why the movie version changes the LEGO conversation
The collaboration is timed to the new Street Fighter film, so it is not the same thing as a broad LEGO license for the Capcom games. For builders and collectors, that is the key takeaway: a character name can be shared across games, movies and Fortnite, while the approved design and product category may still be narrowly defined.
It also separates digital brick-style appearances from the reported possibility of a future physical LEGO Street Fighter set. One can exist without confirming the other. The interesting design question is whether movie-specific costumes can still deliver the instantly readable colors, silhouettes and accessories that make Ryu and Chun-Li work at minifigure scale.
Final Thoughts
This is a small crossover detail with a larger lesson about licensed LEGO characters. The source version matters. For Street Fighter fans, the movie tie-in opens a door, but it does not automatically bring every classic game look through with it.
