Raven Grave MOC – Free Building Instructions for a Gothic Cemetery Scene

A cemetery scene becomes much more memorable when something seems to be watching it. The Raven Grave MOC is my original custom MOC built around that idea: an arched grave marker sits beneath a black raven, while a lantern, curling plants and scattered stones turn the base into a complete gothic cemetery vignette. A Raven Watching Over the Grave

The raven is not simply an extra decoration placed beside the grave. Its raised position on the branch gives the whole Raven Grave MOC a clear focal point and makes the scene feel as though something is happening beyond the stone itself.

Below it, the grave marker uses layered gray shapes to create an old cemetery appearance. A decorative crest panel breaks up the front surface, while the darker lower section gives the structure more visual weight. Together, the raven and grave form a strong vertical composition without needing a large footprint.

The Lantern Changes the Mood of the Cemetery Scene

Most of the build uses muted gray, black, brown and olive tones, so the small lantern becomes an important part of the composition. Its transparent warm detail sits directly below the raven and beside the grave, drawing the eye into the center of the scene.

The ground adds another layer of atmosphere. Rounded stones form a rough path across the front, while curled plants rise on both sides of the lantern. These details make the grave feel embedded in an older, overgrown setting rather than standing alone on an empty base.

Expand the Raven Grave into a Darker Cemetery

The Raven Grave can remain a standalone gothic display, but its compact scene also gives you a starting point for a larger graveyard. What makes this MOC distinctive is that the story remains open. The raven might simply be resting above an old grave, watching over it, or waiting beside the lantern for someone to arrive. The model gives you enough visual clues to suggest a larger world without defining exactly what happened there.
