Park Chess Table MOC – Free Building Instructions
This Park Chess Table MOC is my original custom MOC designed as a compact outdoor meeting place for a city park, public square, garden, or residential courtyard. Free step-by-step image instructions are available on this page.
The scene combines a black-and-white chess table with two round stools, a selection of light and dark game pieces, a tall park lamp, and flower-filled planters. Together, these details create a small city MOC that feels like an active part of a larger public space.

About This Custom MOC
The main feature of this custom MOC is the square chess table, built with a clear alternating board pattern and supported by a compact dark base. Small light and dark pieces are placed across the board, giving the impression that a game has already started rather than presenting an empty piece of park furniture.
Two separate stools with round brown seats provide places for the players. Their simple pedestal construction keeps the scene compact while making each seat clearly recognizable. The furniture is joined by a tall black lamp post with a transparent yellow lantern and dark green structural accents.
Behind the table, brown planter boxes add height and texture to the scene. Green leaves and pale blue flowers soften the dark furniture and help the build feel at home in a landscaped park or garden area.
What You Can Build from the Instructions
The image instructions show how to recreate the complete displayed scene, including the chessboard surface, table support, individual stools, simplified chess pieces, lamp post, planter boxes, leaves, and flowers.
Each part can also be useful beyond the finished arrangement. The stools can become seating in another public area, the planters can decorate a sidewalk or plaza, and the lamp post can help connect this build visually with other city furniture.

A Quiet Game in the Park
The arrangement of the pieces gives this small MOC a clear storytelling idea. It can represent two neighbors meeting for their regular game, friends taking a break in a public square, or players continuing a match after sunset beneath the lamp.
The empty stools leave room to add characters from your own collection, while the plants create a defined background without requiring a large base. This makes the model useful as either a standalone display scene or a small activity corner inside a wider city layout.
Building Experience
This build combines several compact assemblies with different visual roles. The table and stools establish the furniture, the alternating tiles form the recognizable playing surface, and the small chess pieces add the most detailed part of the scene. The taller lamp and raised planters then create a surrounding environment with more height and depth.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the Park Chess Table MOC be used in a larger city layout?
Yes. Its compact arrangement can fit beside a walkway, apartment courtyard, community garden, public square, train station, or landscaped park. The stools, planters, and lamp also help it connect naturally with other street furniture.
Does the pictured model include any figures?
No figures are shown in the finished design. The two open stools leave space to add your own players and create different park stories around the chess game.
