Explorer’s Tent MOC – Free Building Instructions

A map lies open beside the entrance, a lantern hangs over the camp, and the sharply sloped tent turns a small patch of ground into an expedition base. Explorer’s Tent is an adventure MOC focused on the quiet planning moment before the journey continues.

This is my original custom MOC, created as a self-contained display and as a campsite detail for forest, jungle, and exploration layouts. Free step-by-step image instructions are available on this page.

The Sloping Tent Creates an Instant Base Camp

The wide tan panels give the model a strong triangular silhouette that is easy to recognize from across a display. Alternating light and darker bands break up the surface, suggesting a weathered shelter assembled for a longer expedition rather than a perfectly uniform structure.

The open front keeps the interior connected to the campsite. A dark brown frame supports the entrance, while the raised lantern arm adds height on one side and balances the bright plant on the other. Rolled equipment secured along the top completes the impression of a temporary camp built to travel.

Every Object Points Toward the Next Expedition

The map is the clearest story detail in the scene. Positioned on a low storage area outside the tent, it creates a natural planning point where an explorer could study the route before leaving camp.

The hanging lantern, light-colored explorer’s hat, brown storage blocks, surrounding leaves, and tall tropical plant each add another clue about the setting. A character can be placed beside the map, beneath the lantern, or emerging from the tent entrance without requiring any changes to the main model.

Recreate the Shelter and Camp Gear from the Image Guide

These free Explorer’s Tent MOC instructions present the model through a step-by-step image sequence. The build combines several visually distinct areas: the rounded terrain base, the angled tent panels, the dark entrance structure, the front storage section, the lantern post, and the vegetation around the edges.

While following the images, pay particular attention to the changing tan shades across the tent and the way the outer details extend beyond its central shape. The lantern and plant cluster prevent the triangular shelter from feeling too rigid, while the curved ground line gives the finished camp a more natural outline.

Turn the Explorer’s Tent into a Longer Adventure Route

The tent can become the first checkpoint in a larger journey rather than the entire destination. Several other free builds can help create the trail leading toward or away from the camp:

Separated by short paths, rocks, plants, or patches of open ground, these small scenes can form a readable sequence of stops. The Explorer’s Tent remains the planning base, while the surrounding builds reveal where the expedition has been and where it may travel next.
